ICCI 2010 was held in the WOW Convention Centre, Istanbul on May 12-13-14, 2010. ICCI is Turkey’s biggest energy and environment fair and conference . It aims to present a general outlook on the energy sector worldwide and in Turkey.
I also attended this fair on May 14,2010. Most of the companies attended on this fair was mainly focused on wind energy sector. Acciona WindPower, Enercon, Gamesa, GE Energy, Sinovel, Nordex AG, Soyut Wind, Suzlon and Vestas were the wind turbine manufacturer exhibitors.
The most innovative WTGS was Gamesa's G10X - 4,5 MW in my opinion. The reasons why this wind turbine differs from other turbines are that:
- It has hybrid concrete and steel tower which is named as ConcreTower. The concrete sections of tower are prefabricated to make it easy to transport and assemble it in the field.
- At the back of Gamesa G10X's nacelle, there is a small auxiliary crane named FlexiFit which raises and lowers nacelle's main modules. It also provides great flexibility to assemble nacelle modules and provide service for G10X wind turbnes.
- Two sectional blade technology: Innoblade. Blades of G10X consist oftwo sections assembled by screw joints.
- Blade Hoisting System: Blades of G10X are hoisted seperately with a pulley system which only requires the help of small mobile crane.
I was also glad to see Garrad Hassan's stand in fair. We had procured Garrad Hassan's consulting services many times for assesment of wind turbine locations in certain sites. I had also gotten their WindFarmer Demo program. After giving a try to this program, I am also going to share my thoughts.
It seems that wind energy is going to keep dominating ICCI fairs in near future. It also seems that organizer Sektorel Fuarcilik will have to account for organizing a new fair that only focuses on wind energy in near future.
